Q. I am not an ELS/WELS member; may I take communion when I visit your church?
A. The Bible says, "Whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought to
examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks
judgment on himself" (First Corinthians 11:27-31). The Lord Jesus has given his Supper to bring forgiveness and blessing to all who
commune. Believe it, because he has promised! But not everyone is to commune. Those who do not properly examine themselves, and so do not recognize the presence of the
Lord's body and blood in the Supper, bring themselves into judgment before God. Why is this? The act of communing in the Supper is a sacred act; it is an intimate, personal
encounter with Jesus Christ.
For this reason, Faith Lutheran Church (and the WELS/ELS) practices close communion. Close communion is the Biblical practice of admitting to
communion only those members of the congregation who are in good standing (who confess sin, seek to turn away from it, and trust in Jesus for forgiveness) and who are united with the congregation in faith and understanding.
Close communion protects those who do not understand the danger of communing without self-examination or without recognizing the presence of the Lord's body and blood with
the bread and wine. Please speak with the pastor if you are interested in taking the Lord's Supper.
Q. I will be traveling this summer; how do I find an ELS or WELS church to visit while away?
A. First of all, too many ELS members take a vaction from their spritual needs while traveling away from their home church. A family vacation is a great time to teach your children and family
the importance of regular christian worship. Visting other churches in our fellowship is also a
good way to meet fellow believers and to experience a different worship environment and style. While all churches in our fellowship hold to the same
Biblical doctrines and preach the same Biblical truths, there are many
different worship styles and traditions. To find a WELS or ELS church anywhere in the US or Canada use the
WELS Locator Search (http://wels.locatorsearch.com/).
Q. Does Faith agree with the ELCA position allowing practicing homosexutals to be pastors?
A. Our synod, the ELS, issued a press release in the wake of the ELCA decesion.

Pastor Londgren also wrote a response to the ELCA decision that was published in several local papers.

Q. What is Faith's position on homosexuality?
A. First of all, Faith teaches that God wants all men to be saved including homosexuals. Faith also teaches that even though we are all sinners "God so loved the world."
The members of faith want to extend the same love Jeusus showed to "sinners and prostitutes" to those practicing homosexuality.
It is this love for the homosexual's eternal salvation that we must say as Jesus to the adulterer, "Go now and leave your life of sin." (John 8:11)
Faith teaches that marriage is between a man and woman. (Mark 10:6-9)
Faith also teaches that sex outside of this definition, including homosexuality and GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender) lifestyles, are a sin. (Romans 1:25-27, I Corinithinans 6:9)
We teach that homosexuality is a sin not to promote ourselves but rather out of a hope that they will turn to God and that we will one day see them in heaven.
Our synod has published a nice booklet that answers the question "How Would God Have Us Approach The Subject of Homosexuality?"
Please read through the booklet for many more Biblical passages and answers to many questions regarding homosexuality and the GLBT community. If you have a question or would like to discuss this issue please contact Pastor Londgren.
